Hidden in the Dragon Spine Mountains, live dragons and gargoyles. Known to the men of the north, the two races live in harmony with one another and the humans that choose to live among them. Most humans who come to Mar’kal are wizards coming in search of knowledge. One of the schools unique to their Academy of Magic is Dragon Magic.
Cheleya is a che’ther, or land dragon in the common tongue. Transformed into her human form, she can fly like a gargoyle and breathe fire like a legendary dragon. A fun loving dragon mage, her world is turned upside down when she is cursed to remain human and blamed for the theft of dangerous artifacts from her school. Her magic blocked, the girl is thrown to her death, but narrowly escapes using the last of her magical power.
On the run with only her friend Kel’lor, a gargoyle, to protect her and stripped of her magic. Cheleya flees to the south and the lands of men looking for a cure to the curse on the dragoness. Pursued by agents of her betrayer, the two fight werewolves and killer shrikes looking for help.
Will they ever be able return home and clear their names?

I enjoyed this book immensely for a number of reasons.

First off it was just a great read with an interesting character. I'll be interested to see how this character develops as time goes and she becomes more in touch with human emotions. at the moment she is very naive and I would like to see the scales gradually fall from her eyes as she becomes more worldly.

Secondly it was very interesting to see the Southwall mage's from another perspective and this time not even a human one. One of the things that stood out for me is that the dragon's still know about the ability to draw magic from the earth and it gives hints as to how far the power of magic has fallen since the cataclysm.

Last of all I got to see the build up to the next novel which - I hope - will feature more Sebastian in it. Even if it doesn't I am enjoying watching events unfold and I hope that the Battlemage series continues for some time - much like the Ranger's Apprentice series.

Battle Mage Dragon Mage The High King A Tale of Alus Book 6 edition by Donald Wigboldy Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have come to enjoy the tales of Ali's, greatly!! Can't wait for the next one, hopefully it will be out very soon
a great continuation of a series worth following. The suspense continues and maintains the reader's interest! Looking forward to the next volume…
while not at the same POV as pervious books, this book holds its own and can't wait for more to come out
This is a series that kept me interested, real escape from reality. An easy writing style that kept me engaged. Really enjoyed the characters, very believable. Humourous undertone kept it light.
Another battle Mage adventure worth the time to read. Thanks for the escape. I hope to follow the characters in the future.
The book starts with new and interesting characters and a very enjoyable storyline. However, about 30-40 percent of the chapters toward the end of the book are just a rehash of the previous book about the wizard battles. Very disappointing, so much so that I will not read any other books in this series.
I enjoyed this book the new magic is interesting and the new dragon mage character is fun, I only hope that she is pulled into Sebastian's group and that he is able to add some of the dragon magic to his arsenal. Otherwise this is going to feel like filler until the next book with Sebastian and co. If you are a fan of this series it's a worth while read. The only issue with the book as with all the books in this series is editing.

For those reading reviews and looking for a new series to start I encourage you to pick this series up and give it a try. It is easy reading that has heroes that are easy to like and villains that are easy to dislike and the story won't leave you feeling cynical or aggravated at the end.
